West Side Story

For the 125th anniversary of the Royal Concertgebouw, one of the special projects was a performance of Bernstein's classic in the building itself, with students (mostly from vocational training programmes) recruited through extensive auditions for both the singing and dancing parts. The plush and fin-de-siècle architecture of the concert hall was transformed into a metropolitan contemporary environment.
